Patient Information

At Kootenay Dental Arts we believe strongly in prevention-backed dentistry. Many of the oral problems that arise are preventable with effective daily home care and regular professional visits that are tailored specifically to each patient.

Patients for General Care

Your first visit to Kootenay Dental Arts will consist of an assessment by Dr. Pentecost and his team of your medical and dental history, discussion of your concerns, and examination of your teeth with a comprehensive oral exam. A certified dental hygienist will clean your teeth and take the necessary measurements to monitor your gum health over time. Dental x-rays are usually recommended to help with the comprehensive exam.

After reviewing your dental and medical history an oral exam will be performed in order to check the soft tissue, gums, teeth and existing restorations, and look for decay. We will suggest a complete and comprehensive treatment plan that’s right for you. We address immediate problems and provide recommendations for long-term oral health so small issues today don’t turn into big problems in the future.

In the event that your dental treatment requires specialty services, Kootenay Dental Arts offers a number of in-house specialty services. We have oral surgeons working in our clinic throughout the year who can perform specialty treatment under IV sedation.

Patients Referred for Specific Treatments

If you have been referred to us by your general dentist for a specific treatment, we will work with your dentist to collect all the required background information. We will then work with you to determine the various treatment options and formulate a treatment plan that best suits your needs and expectations. Once we have addressed yours and your dentist’s concern, you will return for ongoing general care to your regular dentist.

Payment

Payment is due, in full, at the completion of every service, unless other arrangements have been established prior to treatment. Please understand that if you have dental insurance, any cost not covered by the insurance company is ultimately your responsibility. Interest on accounts over 60 days will be charged at 1.5% per month.

Cancellation

If you need to cancel an appointment please notify the dental office at least 24 hours prior to the appointment so a patient needing more urgent or emergency care may be accommodated. Insufficient cancellation notice may result in a $50.00 charge per hour of missed appointment.
